If you’ve seen the events post, you’ll know of the Adore by Adila abaya launch.
Set in the Marquee/Banquet Hall at The Palm Intercontinental in Fordsburg, Johannesburg, the red carpet was out to welcome all who attended.
As we entered the hall, we were met by Sumayyah, assistant to Adila and were given goodie bags.
The Avon book, Camiic thobe and Musallah pamphlets as well as the Kit-Kat chocolate made up the rest of the goodies in the bag.
I was given reserved seats right in the front so my sister, Nazeera Hassan from My Hijab Lifestyle as well as my sister in-law, Mas-oodah Jappie, & my mother in-law, Muallimah Shamiela Jappie of Cii, were given a clear view.
The show began with Shamiela Doola as the MC, calling upon Mas-oodah as she was a guest speaker.
Her topic of the Extraordinary Muslimah reminded us of Allah’s love for us and that we should cover ourselves for His pleasure.
After Sister Mas-oodah’s talk, we got to view the first of 3 collections.
The models came out as some beautiful Nasheeds were playing, I know my sister really loved one in particular.
The models makeup was done beautifully by Humairah Patel and Fatima Essa.
The Fusion range comprised of bold colors and floral prints, billowy as well as straight cut designs, in quite rather sheer fabrics.
The 2nd guest speaker was Razia Mohammed who is a life coach and psychologist. Her talk was quite interesting and we even did a small exercise.
The 2nd range was called Pretty In Pastels.
The last range was called Sheer Elegance. Many of the designs included nude colors & stripes.
Adila’s speech was heartwarming as she spoke about her marhoom father who was her biggest fan and always encouraged her to follow her heart and dreams.
After the show, the Abayas were on sale.
I do think that many of us would have a favourite design, as the range does have quite a lot of variety.
Many of these abayas are what we would mostly call ‘open abayas’.
Many a Hijabi or Niqaabi would most probably pair them off with black inner dresses.
A repeat of the Adore by Adila ranges was held at the Eid Shopping Festival which took place at The Ticketpro Dome at Northgate, Johannesburg, this past weekend.
A late lunch was held after the show at the relatively infamous Lal Qila Restaurant.
It was a great afternoon and we all look forward to the next show by Adila, Insha Allah.
